  • ๐Ÿ† Murat Akdogan โ€” When Democracy Still Constrains: The Microfoundations of Democratic Accountability Under Party-Democracy Conflict

About the Collaborative

The Democracy and Political Violence Collaborative brings together researchers who study democracy and political violence, broadly construed โ€” regardless of discipline, subfield, career stage, or approach. This includes, but is not limited to, work on democratic resilience and backsliding, support for political violence and antidemocratic policies, and the effect of violence on political behavior.

Our goal is to provide a space for feedback, connection, and collaboration that bridges common divides, such as subfield and discipline. We hold a mini-conference every year at MPSA and host similar events at APSA and EPSS, along with specific workshops and meetings.

Upcoming

  • MPSA 2027 Mini-Conference โ€” Saturday, April 3, 2027. Three paper panels, a roundtable on the state of the field, and a poster session/reception. Applications due November 2, 2026.
  • EPSS โ€” Keep an eye out for a potential pre-conference at EPSS.

Past events

  • APSA 2026 Pre-Conference โ€” Harvard University, September 2, 2026. Our first conference which featured three paper panels and a poster session with two awards.

Organized by Sam Fuller, Gal Bitton, and Jack T. Rametta.
